Beverley Parker | Artist inspired by the Kent countryside

Growing up in a small market town in Leicestershire, Beverley Parker started drawing as a child inspired by her father’s hobby of wood carving. Her desire to study as an artist resulted in a year at Loughborough College of Art & Design followed by a place at the prestigious St Martins school of Art, where she qualified with a BA Hons as an illustrator.

Throughout my artistic journey, I’ve frequently drawn inspiration from classical literature. Whilst reading Classics at school, I studied the epic poetry of Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey. Later, as an illustration student at St Martins School of Art, my work was heavily influenced by the rich narratives of Greek and Roman mythology, along with their vivid imagery.
